Priority Level

Description of Need/Concern

Aesthetics

Front Office

Semi-Immediate

(3-6 months)

The front office staff is in need of a new front desk.  Over the summer, the foyer entrance to the school was remodeled to include a safety partition that requires visitors to sign in at a “drive-thru” type window and be buzzed in.  Due to this change, the current, large, desk no longer works for the staff because they must be by the window at all times.

Aesthetics

Classrooms

Semi-Immediate

(this summer)

The classrooms are in need of general painting.  They have not been painted in several years and the paint on the wall is chipped and hard to clean.

Safety

Playground

Long Term

The playground needs to be redone.  There are several safety issues on the playground including older equipment that the children can hurt themselves on.  In addition, there is a drop-off just beyond the playground that has several blind spots.  A fence needs to be installed to keep children from going down there.

Safety

Outside Doors

Long Term

Currently, there are only two keyless entry pads on the outside of the school.  A keyless entry pad needs to be installed at every outside door so that doors are not being propped open or left open unattended.

Comfort

Classrooms on 1st Grade Hall and office

Immediate

The air conditioner and heaters in these classrooms and offices are very inconsistent sometimes causing extreme hot or cold.  The units need to be serviced and repaired immediately so that they operate correctly and safely.

Aesthetics

Wall leading to the gym

Semi-Immediate (this summer)

The wall leading to the gym needs to be repainted.  The paint on the wall is chipping and the chipped area is growing larger.

Cleanliness/

Safety

Water

Fountains

Semi-Immediate (3-6 months)

The water fountains throughout the school need to be replaced.  They are old, hard to operate and hard to clean.

Safety

Playground

Immediate

Walkie-Talkies need to be purchased for the school to use for communication between the front office and the teachers that are on the playground.  Currently, the only method of communication is cell phones.

Safety

Classrooms

Semi-Immediate (3-6 months)

Landline phones need to be installed in all classrooms.  In the event of an emergency (i.e. an intruder) the only method of communication with the front office is the intercom system.  The classrooms do not have the capability to communicate with other classrooms at this time.

Space Utilization

Art Classroom

Semi-Immediate (this summer)

The art classroom needs to be moved down to the bus hallway.  All specials need to be on the same level.  Due to the heat from the kiln and the small space of the room, the room gets very warm also causing the adjacent room to get warm.  This unit needs to be moved to a large classroom with better ventilation and space.

Program Support

Kindergarten

Semi-Immediate (next school year)

Due to the growing needs in kindergarten, additional instructional aides are needed to help manage the students and provide adequate instruction to all.

Program Support

Literacy

Long Term

The population of Case1 Elementary is rapidly changing with an increase of ELL students and students who receive free/reduced lunch.  This has also been cause for a larger group of children requiring intensive intervention.  A reading intervention teacher is needed to help provide Tier 3 services to small groups of students.

Grounds Utilization

Trailers

Long Term

Several years ago, there was not enough space in the school to house all of the classrooms.  Trailers were brought on sight to be used for additional teaching units.  We no longer need that space and these trailers need to be removed from the property.
